About
Helping developers make a great first impression
Your GitHub profile is often the first thing a recruiter, collaborator or open-source maintainer sees. MakeReadme makes it easy to turn it into something worth reading.
Why it exists
A profile README is a small Markdown file that sits at the top of your GitHub profile. Done well, it explains who you are, what you build and how to reach you. In practice, most developers either skip it or spend an afternoon copying badge URLs, tweaking HTML alignment and wondering why an image looks broken in dark mode.
MakeReadme handles that part. Enter your GitHub username and it fills in your name, bio, languages and top repositories. Then you choose a style, pick your tech stack from 75+ official logos, add live stats, and download a clean README.md. The whole thing takes a few minutes.

Who's behind it
MakeReadme is built and maintained by Prabath, a software engineer from Sri Lanka. It started as a side project to fix a problem I kept running into myself, and grew into a small set of tools for showing off your GitHub work.
Free, no sign-up
Every tool works without an account. Open the page and start.
Private by default
Your README draft stays in your browser. We only read public GitHub data, and only when you ask.
What you see is what you get
The preview renders your README the way GitHub does, in light and dark, desktop and mobile.
Open source
The code is public on GitHub, so you can see exactly how everything works.
Supporting the project
MakeReadme is free and will stay free. It's funded by unobtrusive ads and by people who choose to buy me a coffee on Ko-fi. Sharing the site with a friend helps just as much.
